Day One – Travel from the Phoenix, Scottsdale area to the red rock country of Sedona. This area is well known for its fine Southwestern arts and Native history. You’ll have plenty of time to explore this beautiful and unique scenic destination. This afternoon, experience our unique jeep excursion – “Awakening the Spirit” to explore American Indian spirituality and the history of the first humans drawn to the area. Hear the creation story of the ancestors who once walked this beautiful land. The day concludes with a saging ceremony to cleanse and purify body and spirit. Overnight at Kings Ransom Hotel or equivalent, in Sedona.
Day Two – Join your tour guide for a visit to Grand Canyon National Park. In addition to its awe inspiring beauty, the Grand Canyon has served as home to many Native American cultures. You’ll visit the famed Desert View watchtower, symbolic of ancient Anasazi structures from civilizations long since gone from the area. Then, stop at the Navajo Indian Reservation and enjoy the historic Cameron Trading Post. Overnight in Sedona at Kings Ransom Hotel or equivalent.
Day Three – Travel to Monument Valley Tribal Park for a scenic off-road trip into the heart of the Valley. The towering buttes of this magnificent area have long been the backdrop for Western movies. See them up close with plenty of opportunities for photographs. Plus, visit an authentic hogan, the traditional dwelling of the Navajo people. Return to Sedona for your overnight accommodations at Kings Ransom or equivalent.
Day Four – Travel through Flagstaff and Winslow, AZ to the Homolovi Ruins. These ancient dwellings were once the home of Hopi ancestors. Next, enjoy an authentic Hopi meal with your guide at the Hopi Cultural Center and visit the Hopi Museum and Art Gallery (with time to shop and view the amazing artifacts). The afternoon is at the Village of Walpi on First Mesa, the most pristine of all of the Hopi Villages – nestled atop a distinctive mesa land form. You’ll receive a walking tour with a Hopi Indian
Guide, who will share with you the traditions of the Hopi People. Meet with the Hopis in their homes and share their culture and history with them first hand. Visit with the artisans such as basket makers, pottery makers and kachina carvers. This is a true cultural and spiritual experience. Overnight in Sedona at Kings Ransom or equivalent.
